Young Marine units are community-based programs lead by dedicated adult volunteers. Many of these volunteers are former, retired, active duty and Reserve Marines who believe passionately that the values they learned as Marines can have a positive effect on today’s youth. The Young Marines do have Adult Volunteers who have never served in the military but have the desire to share the same positive leadership to youth. It is through these caring adults that Young Marines learn the inner values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment while instilling our core values of Leadership, Discipline and Teamwork. Adult volunteers have a federal background check and are individually screened by the National Headquarters based on background information and recommendations provided with each person's registration.
The Young Marines is the most rewarding youth programs to be a part of.
To be an adult volunteer, you do not necessarily have to be an active, reserve, veteran or retired Marine. Within the Young Marines program, we have adult volunteers that served in all branches. These adult volunteers, like their Marine Corps counterparts, believe in the future of our youth and bring in their discipline and skills to serve as positive role models. Also, many non-military adult volunteers with the same desire to lead youth, bring in their skills and desires for the success of Americas youth!
If you are prior military and miss the structure and building a winning team through leadership, teamwork and discipline while having fun, this program is for you.
To register as an adult volunteer, you must fill out an enrollment package, obtain three references and obtain an extensive background check through the National Center for Safety Initiatives.
